Stefano Puri Architti unveiled his latest plan for Tirana Riverside in the Albanian capital. Meeting the needs of post-COVID 19, the Imagined Neighborhood, the first of its kind in Europe, is a green, sustainable and technologically advanced modernity, designed in agreement with the government and city authorities.

The Tirana Riverside project, created to respond to the new needs of epidemic stage 19 after COVID and designed as a solution to the 2019 earthquake emergency displacement, faces many challenges. The neighborhood is designed for 12,000 people and meets all the sustainability measures required by the current climate crisis.

In cooperation with SON-Group, the Stefano Boeri scheme creates an environmentally friendly and self-sustaining intervention, “equipped with all technologies present in smart cities today and able to guarantee the guarantees and health safety requirements needed to face future uncertain situations beyond COVID 19”.

Essential public services are grouped into three locations, within an easily accessible walking distance from each other. The project will include general urban and administrative jobs, many services for the city, school and university center. On the other hand, public and private vegetables and plants are distributed throughout common areas, vertical surfaces and on roofs. Solar panels make each building a source of clean energy production and storage, creating a local power grid available to all residents.

The new Tirana Riverside project was presented to the Albanian Cabinet, “It offers extremely high performance from the viewpoint of earthquakes, energy and mobility, with the aim of creating a safe and secure public space at the human level.” Construction work is scheduled for early summer with the aim of delivering the first condominiums within twelve months.
