Strong earthquake hits the Pacific coast of Nicaragua

MADRID, April 21 (European press) –

An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale jolted areas of Nicaragua on the Pacific coast Thursday morning, with no immediate evidence of significant personal or material damage.

The earthquake occurred about 70 kilometers from Pochomel, and, according to the Vice President, Rosario Murillo, people felt it along the entire coast. Murillo pinpointed the hypocenter at a depth of 10 kilometers, although the USGS raises the figure to 25 kilometers and lowers the size to 6.7.
