The Amazon rainforest burns at a stream rate

The fire is gaining momentum in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest, and scientists have warned that it could cause a devastating blow to the fight against climate change.
The fires are burning at the highest rate in the country’s space research centers, the National Institute for Space Research (known by the acronym INPE), which began monitoring in 2013, the center reported.
There have been 72,843 fires this year in Brazil, more than half in the Amazon region, INPE said. That’s an 80% increase over the same period last year.
The Amazon is often called the lungs of the planet, which produces 20% of the oxygen in the Earth’s atmosphere.
It is considered essential to slow global warming, and there are many species of fauna and flora. Nearly half the size of the United States is the largest jungle on the planet.
