A 3.2-magnitude earthquake shakes Crockwell in the Southern Territories of New South Wales

An earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale has struck a small town in the Southern Territories of New South Wales.

Residents of Crookwell, east Boruwa, were disturbed just before 1.45am on Friday.

It happened at a depth of one kilometer, according to Geoscience Australia.

Only 12 people reported feeling the earthquake.

Resident Steve Oxley told ABC it sounded like a storm and appeared to last for up to 12 seconds.

This comes less than a week after a similarly sized earthquake struck Abyan state, 173 kilometers northeast of Crookwell.

The magnitude of the Abyan earthquake was 3.1 on the Richter scale, and it occurred at a depth of 3 kilometers, just after 2 pm last Sunday.

It was felt by 38 people.
