Mohammed VI calls on the government to provide relief aid for the Al Haouz earthquake

The tragedy of the Al Haouz earthquake is still present in Morocco. No one has yet forgotten what happened on September 8 of last year, when 2,946 Moroccans lost their lives. Akhannouch announced, during the press conference, that families whose homes were partially damaged would receive 80,000 dirhams, and those whose homes were completely destroyed would receive 140,000 dirhams, according to a royal order. The Ministers of Economy, Finance, Interior, Equipment and Agriculture also discussed the details of the program and the measures to be taken in their specific fields.

Akhannouch stressed the King’s concern for the affected population. The inter-ministerial committee has assessed the damage and needs to coordinate the implementation of the support and recovery program for the region as directed by the King.

The project aims to restore infrastructure and support the affected population in the regions of Tata, Rachidia, Midelt, Ouarzazate, Tinghir and several other states in the southeast. The program also aims to support agricultural activities in disaster areas through measures to repair small and medium-sized hydraulic structures, and support livestock farmers.
