R&S launches a new earthquake-resistant transformer range

Swiss transformer manufacturer Rauscher & Stoecklin has designed a new earthquake-resistant transformer assembly.

The new kit is designed to help prevent transformers from moving or falling off during earthquakes, which in turn can damage the switch and cause network failures.

The new set consists of four adjustable steel ropes to attach to the transformer, thus it is more flexible than the existing solution with steel shafts. Along with the kit, it is recommended to use corner reinforcements. The ring loops on the transformer are often very weak. The steel ropes are attached to the corner posts and to the wall or floor.

The kit is applicable to all oil transformers up to 2000 kVA or higher upon request.

Transformers equipped with an oil retention receptacle are also included.
