The Senate is blocking plans to shut down and reopen the government
The Senate received two votes for opposition plans to end the longest government shutdown in history, with a few members breaking the ranks as the shutdown extended to Day 34.
Republic law would reopen the government, fund President Donald Trump’s border wall, provide temporary deportation protections, and provide disaster relief. It received 50 votes, out of the 60 needed to advance.
The Democratic bill would reopen the federal government in early February and put $ 12.1 trillion in disaster relief. He has received 52 votes, but he has not yet advanced.
No measure was expected to be successful.
