Coronavirus: £ 75m UK to get UK homeowners – BBC News
Thousands of British people trapped abroad by the coronavirus pandemic will take home a new deal between the government and the airline.
British Airways, Virgin, EasyJet, Jet2 and Titan are among the companies that have agreed to return to the UK.
In addition, the government has pledged £ 75m for special flights to bring UK nationals to non-commercial airliners.
The number of people killed by the virus in the UK has reached 1,408.
Speaking about the government’s daily coronavirus, Foreign Secretary Dominican Raab said the number of UK travelers was “unprecedented” in trying to get home.
“We have hundreds of thousands of people traveling around the world,” he said.
Raab adds: “Hundreds of thousands have already made it, but many travelers have yet to return home. From young backpackers to retired cross-country couples.”
