ShakeOut earthquake preparedness event Thursday | local news

The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) is inviting citizens to take part in a regional earthquake exercise at 10:15 am Thursday.

The ShakeOut Center in the central United States has about 1.4 million registered participants in 14 central US states who are most likely to be affected by the New Madrid Seismic Zone earthquake, according to SEMA seismic program director Jeff Briggs. About 325,000 Missouri have been registered.
