Removed’Plandemic ‘video containing claims for’unfounded’ coronavirus on Facebook, YouTube

(Reuters) -Alphabet Inc’s Google video services Facebook Inc and YouTube announced Thursday that they would remove videos that made medically groundless claims about the new coronavirus pandemic.

The 26-minute video, dubbed “Plandemic,” was word-of-mouth this week across social media platforms. It features Judy Mikowitz, an activist among those who claim that many common vaccines are dangerous.

Mikovits said in a video that wearing a mask criticizes activating the coronavirus in people’s bodies and ordering them to leave the beach without providing evidence.

“We’ll remove the video as it can lead to imminent harm as it suggests that wearing a mask can make you feel sick,” Facebook said.

Although no comment was received from Mr. Mikowitz, the video producer did not immediately respond to the request for comment.

In the video, Mikowitz also describes the coronavirus as a conspiracy among those who seek to benefit from the vaccine and raises concerns about the vaccine. She says anyone who has had the flu vaccine was injected with the coronavirus without providing proof.

COVID-19, a disease caused by coronaviruses, emerges in late 2019 and there are no known vaccines or cures. Vaccines for seasonal influenza caused by another virus are available.

YouTube said it is working to remove the video from its services in accordance with the rules for “content with medically unsubstantiated diagnostic advice” on coronavirus-related respiratory illness COVID-19.

However, later Thursday, a slightly edited copy of the original video was still available on YouTube.

Twitter Inc said it blocked users from using the hashtags #PlagueOfCorruption and #Plandemicmovie, but said the content of the short clip posted to the service did not violate COVID-19’s misinformation policy. Stated.
