Sue and Billy Susendry sit in Thanksgiving’s favorite chair, which is enough for this couple who have experienced a lot.

“I’m grateful that he’s there when I look around because he wasn’t there for so long,” Sue said.

For four months last year, Billy left his chair for COVID-19 and was obsessed with his life in a hospital bed.

He spent seven weeks on ventilator, but 16 months after discharge, he reached an important milestone only today.

“I completed my treatment here at Baylor Scott and White here in Grapevine,” Billy said.

The 65-year-old had to relearn how to get up and train his legs to walk again later.

On Thursday, November 25th, we will meet for the first time in two years for a Thanksgiving dinner that includes our wife’s children and a large family.

“I want to tell you how grateful I am for being a family of four and still being a family of four after he experienced,” Sue said.

“I feel great,” Billy said. “My lung function is approaching 75% from less than 60%.”

Billy has not yet regained full use of his right hand.

No one blamed him for resenting and asking “Why am I?”

But he counts his blessings just by knowing how much COVID-19 is affecting others.

“They still have breathing problems, they can’t walk, they can’t really walk around, and I’m beyond that, so that’s what I’m really grateful for,” Billy said. Said.
