Brainbus stops at Tallahassee to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease
Tallahassee, Florida (WTXL) —Brainbus stops at Parliament on Tuesday Alzheimer’s disease disease.
Alzheimer’s disease is a cognitive disorder that gradually destroys memory.
It affects 6.8 million people worldwide, and more than 580,000 Florida people.
Program manager Bob Harris says early diagnosis is the key to properly planning the debilitating effects of the disease. He also suggests some tips to keep the illness away.
“Four things you can do to reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s disease are exercise, diet, cognitive activity, and social involvement,” says Harris. “Be aware that what is healthy for the heart is healthy for the brain. Every time your heart beats, 25% of its blood goes to your brain. So we are all in our body. I want to keep my heart healthy. “
The Alzheimer’s Association Provides this list of status warning signs:
- Memory loss that disrupts daily life
- Challenges in planning or solving problems
- Difficult to complete familiar tasks
- Confusion with time and place
