Quebec added 26 new COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations exceeded 2,150
Quebec continues to face the sixth wave of COVID-19 (new coronavirus infection)The state recorded 26 new deaths and an increase in 94 cases on Thursday.
There were 2,154 pandemic-related hospitalizations. On the final day, 282 patients were hospitalized and 188 were discharged, officials said.
The number of cases in the intensive care unit associated with this disease increased by 13, for a total of 96 cases.
The state also recorded 3,190 new infections, but this number per day only portrays a partial portrait of the situation, as PCR tests are limited to a small number of high-risk groups.
Health officials say 24,438 tests were conducted at a state screening site on Tuesday. Tuesday is the latest day when that information is available.
Quebécois also continued to declare the results of their rapid home test, adding 1,346 in the latest Roundup. This includes 1,122 positive tests.
The COVID-19 vaccination campaign has given an additional 46,057 doses in the last 24 hours. So far, more than 19 million shots have been given.
As part of the daily tally, the state also revealed that nearly 13,000 healthcare workers are absent due to pandemic-related reasons such as isolation and waiting for test results.
Health Minister Christian Duvet told reporters in Quebec City Thursday that he was worried about the increasing absence of the health network.

He also said the state hospitals would be difficult for the next two weeks as the health system manages an abnormal spring flu wave in addition to the sixth pandemic wave.
Duvet also warned against the next long weekend, especially for the elderly and vulnerable Quebécois, “don’t take unnecessary risks.”
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Quebec has had 1,010,196 official cases and 14,618 deaths. Meanwhile, the recovery rate from the virus exceeded 963,000 on Thursday.
