Monkeypox in Texas: New Cases Show Community Infection
“This is a very unusual pattern of transmission. I’ve never seen it before,” said Dr. Lewis Ostroski of UT Health and Memorial Hermann.
Houston — More cases of monkeypox were identified in Texas on Thursday.
The Texas Health Department currently reports 12 cases Throughout the state, three of them are not linked to travel, indicating that the transmission is currently taking place in the community.

The quarantine period for monkeypox is 21 days.
Most people who develop the virus will recover. According to Ostroski, about 90% is estimated to be okay. But still, it can be fatal. Health officials said the most at risk were immunodeficiency, very young, old, pregnant, and fetuses.
Although the spread appears to be due to close physical contact, there is growing concern that the community will be infected more frequently and may spread throughout the home.
