Omaha, Nebraska (WOWT) – For two years, the flu seemed to have all but disappeared as COVID raged around the world.
This season’s flu looks poised to make a comeback, especially as demand for vaccinations plummets.
Health experts have feared a “storm” since the pandemic began. The simultaneous surge of COVID and influenza. But doctors say precautions like masks and social distancing have helped keep both viruses at bay.
Now that most precautions have been removed and public discord over vaccination appears to be growing, doctors fear the flu will take center stage.

Omaha’s Ruth Piatt plans to do just that.
“I have a two-year-old great-grandchild at home who I take care of, and I worry about her,” Piatt said.
According to doctors, the best time to get both vaccinations is early fall.
