St. Louis-based Williams & Associates, Inc., a minority community-based public health agency committed to addressing minority health inequalities and health equity, is celebrating World AIDS Day on December 1, 2022. Opened City Service Center.
The center provides preventative health care and outreach services to reduce opioid use and overdose rates and other complications such as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis B and C within the St. Louis area.
ART-Dacity To Survive: A Tribute To World AIDS Day 2022 featured an open house at the Service Center and artwork from local minority artists.
Williams & Associates, Inc’s South City Service Center is located at 3030 South Grand Boulevard, Suite 201 (off-street parking behind the building).
The open house included free and confidential HIV testing services, PrEP education and enrollment, and assistance with applying for health coverage through the Medicaid Expansion Program.
Erise Williams, Jr., MPH, co-founder, president and CEO of the institution said: People are still contracting HIV at an alarming rate and dying from AIDS.
“Inadequate access to preventive health services and links to HIV care and treatment remain barriers to ending the national and global AIDS epidemic,” he said.
Williams said the growing number of community members suffering from opioid addiction and overdoses means the St. Louis area is facing a double epidemic compounded by the stigma of HIV/AIDS and the stigma of substance abuse. I added that it means
Williams & Associates, Inc. also operates public health service centers in northern St. Louis County at 3737 North Kingshighway, Suite 206 of the Tandy Medical Center Building, and 3533 Dunn Road, Suite 228 of Florissant, in northern St. Louis County.
HIV testing and counseling services and STD testing and treatment services are available at all three locations. Substance abuse treatment links, recovery support services, and mental health services are available in three locations.
Narcan, a rescue drug used to treat opioid overdoses, is distributed in high-risk areas of St. Louis City and St. Louis County.
