Two more people die in Montana, 104 report new COVID-19 cases (Wednesday, July 22)
Health officials in Montana reported two more deaths and 104 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, Montana Response COV ID-19 Tracking Map.
There are currently 42 deaths in the state. One of the new deaths was reported in Yellowstone County. Here’s the full press release from RiverStone Health:
Another COVID-19-related death occurred on Tuesday in Yellowstone County.
RiverStone Health, a health department in Yellowstone County, reports a man in his sixties died at home on Tuesday.
To protect the privacy of the deceased and her family, RiverStone Health does not disclose any more information.
This recent death in Yellowstone County is reflected in the state’s COVID-19 tracking map today. The man’s death totaled 19 deaths associated with county COVID-19.
“The death of another Yellowstone County man from this horrifying illness is affecting all of us in our community,” said Yellowstone County Health Officer and Riverstone Health President. CEO John Felton said. “Our heart goes out to this man’s family and friends. To do everything possible to prevent more people from getting sick, and to respect everyone’s memory of those who have lost. I urge you, if you are sick.”
To date, 756 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19, with 482 active as of Wednesday.
The second death was reported in Sweet Grass County. According to the Sweet Grass County Health Department, the patient was a man in his 80s who was hospitalized. It was the first COVID-19 related death in the area.
Gallatin County reported the most frequent increase of 34 cases. 27 new cases were reported in Yellowstone County and 15 new cases were added in Bighorn County.
The remaining new cases were distributed in 16 counties. (See chart below)
Judith Basin County reported the first case of coronavirus in the area.

There are currently 1,228 active cases across the state. Yellowstone County has 482 active cases and Lake County has 100 active cases. Big Horn County reports 99 active cases.
