COVID-19, NJ: A cluster of coronaviruses may be linked to the Township House Party in Middletown.
The Middletown Township Department of Health and Human Services said a cluster of approximately 20 teenage COVID-19 cases may be associated with parties allegedly to have occurred on or before 11 July. It was
“If you suspect your child may have attended such a party or participated in a sport or other group activity, ask them to self-quarantine for 14 days to monitor for signs and symptoms.” Department Said Wednesday’s statement. “If they get sick, they should self-isolate and contact your family doctor.”

All cases are teens 15 to 19 years old.
Health officials in Middletown said they were facing resistance while trying to track the case.
“We are doing contact tracking to better track and narrow down the range of clusters we are looking at. Unfortunately, responsiveness is unsatisfactory, and many people find that our I refuse to answer any questions.”
Local leaders are also troubled by reports that teens were drinking alcohol at parties. But their main focus is to stop the spread of the virus.

Middletown Mayor Tony Perry said the town is pleading with parents and students for help. He said teens were not a problem.

The Health Department said they are in contact with a family member who says they are in self-quarantine, but are waiting more for compliance.
