According to one study, the previous lockdowns “probably saved” the lives of London bus drivers who died of the coronavirus.
University College London (UCL) was commissioned by the London Transit Authority (TfL) to investigate the high mortality rate of London bus workers.
Thirty-three London bus workers died at Covid-19, including 29 drivers-3.5 times the rate of other roles.
The previous blockade “probably saved more lives,” the report found.
Sir Michael Marmot, who led the study, said:
“Since London was the early center of the pandemic, the increased risk of London bus drivers is likely to be related to exposure.”
