The new dashboard shows measles vaccination rates at Illinois schools
(WIFR) – The Illinois Department of Public Health is revealing new tools schools and families can use in the event of measles outbreaks in Illinois.
Measles Outbreak Simulator Dashboard Public or private Illinois schools show measles vaccination rates to determine the risk of exposure if cases are found in schools.
School staff are advised to use dashboards to prevent measles outbreak decisions if they occur in Illinois and assess the potential severity of measles outbreaks. We provide and update estimates of the magnitude and spread of measles outbreaks in individual schools from KER-K to Grade 12 using school vaccination and registration data for 2023-2024.
IDPH says there were no reported cases of measles in Illinois in early 2024, but other states are closely monitoring the outbreak.
“IDPH continues to work closely with our local public health and healthcare partners in preparation for potential measles cases in Illinois,” said IDPH Director Dr. Samiavora. “The department builds on lessons we have learned from our successful measles response in 2024, by allowing residents to access meaningful information to guide their decisions. The new dashboard will provide the public with the ability to review the rates of measles vaccination in children's schools and the risk of occurrence.”
According to IDPH, most residents receive the measles vaccine during childhood.
