Invented FC and Cavalier Pub Coronavirus Link
The DEVIZES Football Club, and the town’s Cavalier pub, are associated with the outbreak of coronaviruses.
Three of the positive cases were players from the Devize Football Club who recently returned from abroad, and two more cases were identified, all of which recently joined the Cavalier Pub.
Persons identified as close contacts for positive cases will be contacted by the NHS Test and Trace service. Contact information for confirmed cases should be examined if symptoms develop. Even if negative, you must be self-isolated for 14 days.
The pub has several COVID-19 safety measures in place and has opted to shut down to perform a deep clean. The pub is scheduled to reopen on Thursday. Devizes Football Club will not compete in the game until September 15.
Kate Blackburn, Director of Public Health, Wiltshire Council, said:
“The best way to prevent the spread of the virus is to wash your hands regularly, maintain a social distance, and stay home as long as possible.
“If someone starts to develop new continuous coughs, high temperatures, or coronavirus symptoms such as loss or changes in taste or smell, please be self-isolated and book a test. First, everyone needs to play a role in us to minimize the risk to those who get sick.If you are told to be self-isolated, you should be tested unless you have symptoms. If there is a symptom, the whole family needs to be self-isolated and tested.”

Neil Fautley, Club Secretary of Devizes Football Club, said: Although clubs take steps to protect everyone as much as possible, people should take personal responsibility within their own time and follow all guidance carefully. We all hated not being able to play football during lockdown, and unfortunately not being able to do it for a while, but it’s completely understandable. ”
