Breaking News | ONE gene version increases brain size and improves numerical skills
Changes in a single gene appear to be related to both the size of the gray matter in the part of the brain that processes the expression of quantity and the ability of mathematics.
Researchers from Germany I studied the genome and brain of 178 toddlers — I looked for a link to the math test results after them a few years later at school.
The team found that a variant of ROBO1 (a gene that regulates the growth of the outermost layers of nerve tissue in the brain) affects the size of the right parietal lobe.
This region of the brain is thought to play a role in the processing of counts and numbers, so its growth may explain previous suggestions that ROBO1 contributes to mathematical abilities.
One genetic change you inherited from your parents appears to be related to the size of the gray matter in the right parietal lobe of the brain — and your math skills are portrayed.
The study was conducted by neuropsychologist Michael Skeide and his colleagues at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive Brain Sciences in Leipzig.
“ROBO1, a gene known to regulate prenatal growth in the cortical layer, was found to be associated with volume in the right parietal lobe, an important region of quantitative expression,” the team said. Is writing in the paper.
“Individual volume differences in the region predicted up to one-fifth of the behavioral differences in mathematical ability.”
In their study, researchers analyzed the genomes of 178 children aged 3 to 6 years — especially before they were trained in math.
For each child, they compared this data with measurements of whole-brain gray mass detected by magnetic resonance imaging.
Then, using math tests performed when each participant reached the second grade of school (around 7-9 years old), which genes and regions in the brain were associated with improved numerical capacity. We evaluated the possibility.
Dr. Skeide and colleagues focused on 10 genes, including ROBO1. Previous studies have suggested that this may play a role in mathematical possibilities.

In addition, children aged 3 to 6 years with a large amount of gray matter in the right parietal cortex were found to perform better on math tests at the age of 7 to 9. The team found that ROBO1 variability was significantly associated with increased right parietal lobe size.
In addition, children aged 3 to 6 years with a large amount of gray matter in the right parietal cortex were found to perform better on math tests at the age of 7 to 9.
This suggests that “individual differences in right parietal lobe growth” may represent a missing link in the understanding of “reported associations between DNA mutations and mathematical performance of behavior.” The team wrote.
“This interpretation is compatible with many studies showing that the parietal lobe contributes particularly to mathematical cognition from childhood and maintains this crucial role in adulthood,” they added.
The full findings of the study were published in the journal PLOS biology..

“Intelligence Quotient” (IQ) is a measure of mental ability
IQ stands for IQ and is used to measure mental ability.
The abbreviation “IQ” was first coined by psychologist William Stern to represent the German IQ.
Historically, IQ is a score achieved by dividing a person’s mental age on an intelligence test by age.
Then multiply the resulting fraction by 100 to get an IQ score.
IQ 100 has long been considered the median score.
Due to the way test results are scaled, people with an IQ of 60 do not have half the intelligence of people with an IQ of 120.
Placing IQ scores also means that the results are “normally distributed”. That is, the number of people scoring on either side of the average.
For example, the same number of people who get 130 points will get 70 points.
There is some debate about the accuracy of intelligence testing, but it is still widely used.
For Mensa, acceptance scores require members to be within the top two percent of the general population.
Depending on your IQ test, this may require a score of at least 130.
Celebrity IQ score:
- Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking – 160
- Donald Trump – 156
- Emma Watson-138
- Arnold Schwarzenegger – 135
- Nicole Kidman-132
What Are The Main Benefits Of Comparing Car Insurance Quotes Online
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 24, 2020, / Compare-autoinsurance.Org has launched a new blog post that presents the main benefits of comparing multiple car insurance quotes. For more info and free online quotes, please visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/the-advantages-of-comparing-prices-with-car-insurance-quotes-online/ The modern society has numerous technological advantages. One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier. This website is unique because it does not simply stick to one kind of insurance provider, but brings the clients the best deals from many different online insurance carriers. In this way, clients have access to offers from multiple carriers all in one place: this website. On this site, customers have access to quotes for insurance plans from various agencies, such as local or nationwide agencies, brand names insurance companies, etc. "Online quotes can easily help drivers obtain better car insurance deals. All they have to do is to complete an online form with accurate and real info, then compare prices", said Russell Rabichev, Marketing Director of Internet Marketing Company.
