Breaking news: Limerick Covid-19 cases confirmed as a 14-day decrease in incidence
As of midnight Wednesday, November 4, the HSE Health Protection Surveillance Center has been notified of 591 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Cases have been followed up at 120 in Dublin, 75 in Donegal, 50 in Cork, 46 in Kelly and 44 in Limerick, with the remaining 256 cases spreading to 20 other counties.
The number of cases in Limerick this week is 34 on Monday, 6 on Tuesday and 28 on Wednesday.
The 14-day incidence per 100,000 population of Limerick is 229.9, but there are currently 448 new cases in the last 14 days.
Currently, there are a total of 64,046 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland. (As a result of the verification, 28 notifications were sent. 64,046 numbers reflect this.)
Of the COVID-19 cases notified today;
• 280 men / 310 women
• 59% are under 45
• Median age is 38 years
As of 2:00 pm today, 302 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized, 38 of whom were in the ICU. There have been 20 more hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.
Dr. Tony Holohan, Chief Health Officer of the Ministry of Health, said: “The second surge is happening across Europe. Ireland and Finland are the only European countries in the EU where a 14-day decline in incidence has been observed. All other countries are increasing.
“The last two weeks of Level 5 efforts have succeeded in further reducing the incidence of community outbreaks and diseases in Ireland, but it’s not a satisfying time now. We must continue to hunt down the disease. No-we have to continue.
“In the age group of 19-24, the incidence dropped dramatically from 450 per 100,000 to 150 per 100,000 in two weeks. They also halved their contacts in the last five weeks. We all need to acknowledge the efforts of the young people and thank them. “
