Walsh announces stricter coronavirus guidelines

The mayor said he was disappointed with reports that people had gathered on places like Castle Island and Arnold Arboretum on Saturday when the weather improved. Walsh and other civil servants have warned people to stay away from each other to avoid transmission of the new coronavirus.

He said he was convinced that city hospitals could handle the expected surge in coronavirus cases in the coming weeks, but said that it would only apply if people took steps to stop the increase in cases.

The large Boston Convention and Exhibition Center has been converted to an open-air hospital with 500 beds for homeless people in the city and 500 beds for overflow patients from city hospitals.

Walsh said health professionals are “sufficiently stressed right now.”

“We can thank them for everything we want, but if you don’t adhere to the rules and regulations we want, you’re not helping a doctor,” said the mayor. Said. “You are not helping a nurse. You are not helping those who need help at this particular moment.”

Walsh has repeatedly stated that young people are capturing COVID-19 and that they can develop dangerous symptoms and transmit the disease to even more vulnerable loved ones.

“It affects everyone, and when I hear these stories, I still scratch my head,” Walsh said.

As Walsh spoke on Sunday, statewide workers were in a hurry to expand the public health infrastructure needed for the coronavirus crisis.

Governor Charlie Baker was set up on Sunday afternoon to visit the drive-through coronavirus test site at Patriot Place in Foxborough.

The site, launched as a partnership between Patriots, State agencies and contractors in New England, provides 200 cases per day to police officers, firefighters and other public security workers with symptoms. Tests will be conducted.

The state public security agency plans to use the site seven days a week, and officials have announced that they will provide results within one or two days.

In Summerville, Partners HealthCare, local authorities and non-profit Batel have begun installing machines that can sterilize up to 80,000 masks per day. This addition can open a breakthrough in the continuing lack of protective equipment for healthcare professionals.

A site next to Partners headquarters near Assembly Row could have enough clean masks available to serve all hospitals in Massachusetts And probably New England.

The machine was placed in a series of shipping containers around Sunday at 8:00 am, according to Partners and Somerville sources. Setup takes a few days, but will be up and running by the weekend.
