New Jersey dad says the state has stopped raising money to treat his son

New Jersey’s dad, who has raised money to treat his son’s muscular dystrophy and finished racing around the world, claims that the state’s gambling ban prevents him from auctioning Mustang for charity.

But the pandemic stopped his funding efforts, Lafone said, so he decided to auction the Ford Mustang to fill the gap. He planned to sell 1,000 tickets for $ 100 each to support treatments that could extend the life expectancy of children with DMD, as life expectancy is in their mid-20s. Experimental studies cost $ 35,000 a month, Lafone said.

However, state officials forced him to cancel the raffle, Lafone said.
