Main CDC reports 20 new COVID-19-related deaths, 357 cases

Augusta, Maine (WABI)-The CDC, Maine reports that another 20 people have died as a result of the coronavirus.

The 20 additional deaths reported on Saturday included two residents in Androscoggin County, four residents in Aroostook County, three residents in Cumberland County, and one in Kennebec County. Includes 1 resident, 1 resident in Oxford County, 5 resident in Penobscot County, and 1 resident in Washington County. Three residents of York County.

Of those who died, 15 were women and 5 were men.

Two were 50 to 59 years old, one was 60 to 69 years old, four were 70 to 79 years old, and 13 were over 80 years old.

The additional deaths reported on Saturday reflect a review of important records submitted in the last two weeks, primarily including deaths that occurred between January 10 and January 23, 2021.

The state’s death toll is currently 590.

No further information about the death was immediately available on Saturday morning.

The Main CDC reports 353 new cases of this virus.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, there are currently more than 39,000 cases in Maine.

Over 31,500 cases have been confirmed by the main CDC.

Cumberland and York County report the newest cases overnight.

Penobscot and Kennebec counties each report 46 new cases.

Currently, 161 people are hospitalized for the virus and 51 are receiving critical care.

The main CDC states that as of Saturday, 145,356 coronavirus vaccinations had taken place.

108,519 received the first dose and 36,837 received the second dose.

The next main CDC briefing is scheduled for Tuesday, February 2nd at 2:00 pm.
