Disinfection robot tried in Singapore, fighting virus
Researchers in Singapore have invented a disinfection robot with arms that mimic human movements to help remove the load from overworked cleaners during a coronavirus pandemic.
“XDBOT” is a box-shaped piece created on a wheel that has a dexterous robot arm attached to it that can reach difficult places such as a table or under a bed.
A robot built by researchers at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in the city, equipped with a powerful nozzle to spray disinfectant, can quickly tackle large surfaces.
It can be controlled remotely using a laptop or tablet, reducing the risk of cleaners becoming infected with viruses and killing more than 140,000 people worldwide.
