As of Wednesday, only 235 cases of the virus were active, 212 were quarantined at home for exposure, and residents of 23 counties were hospitalized for COVID-related complications, MCHD reported.
As with the number of COVID patients in both regional hospitals, the number of inpatients increased by one from Tuesday.
OSF St. Joseph and Karl Bromen’s medical centers reported on Wednesday that a total of 26 COVID patients increased from 25.
Both hospitals also reported a surge in bed usage in the intensive care unit. Only 4% of all ICU beds are available, 96% full as of Wednesday, up from 88% the day before. The total number of beds available has dropped from 89% on Tuesday to 84% of all full beds.
The other day, another 20 viruses were confirmed, bringing the cumulative total from last year to 18,184.
No additional deaths have been reported.
