Three members of NCT have apologized for joking about warning of an earthquake

NCT members Mark, Doyoung, and Johnny issued an apology after the trio joked about the earthquake alert during the live broadcast.

NCT K-pop members Mark, Doyoung, and Johnny have issued an apology after joking about an on-air earthquake alarm.

The incident surfaced during a live broadcast as NCT was promoting their latest album, Universe. At some point during the flow, an emergency earthquake alarm was heard, notifying citizens of a 4.9-magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Jeju Island.

During the emergency warning, Mark, Doyoung, and Johnny start singing NCT 127’s song ‘Earthquake’, before the other members ask them to stop.

After the broadcast, the three members issued an apology for their actions on their personal Instagram accounts (translations from Soompi).

“I want to say that I am deeply sorry for the photo I showed myself during today’s comeback livestream. I am really sorry for misjudging the situation and acting negligently and recklessly.” Mark Books. “I will think deeply about myself and work hard not to exhibit behavior like this again.”

Member Doyoung posted a similar message, “I want to apologize to those who were injured and felt uncomfortable because of my frivolous actions and words. This was entirely my fault, so I apologize again without excuses.”

“I am very sorry for my reckless actions during the live broadcast of the comeback.” Johnny said on his own. “In the future, I will be more careful about my thoughts and actions. I am so sorry. I want to apologize again to those who felt uncomfortable watching my behavior.”

Although the earthquake was short-lived, it caused great alarm among the South Korean fans due to it being one of the strongest recorded in South Korean history. No damages or deaths were recorded.
