Bentley cuts 1,000 jobs-report

Faced with a tough market plagued by coronavirus pandemics, it is reported that up to 1,000 jobs will be cut from luxury car maker Bentley.

About one-quarter of Bentley’s staff will be provided with voluntary redundancy, with a formal statement expected by the company later Friday, according to the BBC.

Founded in northern London in 1919 and now owned by Volkswagen, it’s been just a few weeks since production resumed at Crew’s headquarters on May 11.

About 1,700 workers returned to the scene, and Bentley predicted that the rest of the workforce would be back by mid-June.

The reported cuts follow Aston Martin, revealing plans to cut up to 500 jobs on Thursday as part of a major restructuring.

The troubled company said it would soon begin talks about unemployment, which was driven by lower-than-planned productivity and productivity gains.

Aston Martin said the restructuring is expected to cost around £12 million.
