The Permian Basin reacted to Wednesday’s earthquake

Odessa, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) — ABC News reported that the epicenter of Wednesday’s earthquake was northwest of Pecos and about 170 miles east of El Paso.

The USGS says people as far east as Dallas and Austin felt the quake as well as people in Roswell, New Mexico.

But ABC Big 2 News wanted to know what people who live in the Permian Basin thought about the recent change, and here’s what they told us.

“Yeah, my husband and I were home. We were watching a movie and we were looking at each other to say something about the movie, and suddenly we felt like everything was shaking. Our first thought was, ‘Earthquake,’ because with everything going on in the world, why not?” Megan Fox said. “.

“I had actually just walked into the hotel room and closed the door, and for a moment I thought the door slammed so hard that it was shaking the whole room. It took me a second to come to grips but then I saw the TV flickering and the curtains shaking. In the past, I lived in the South California, so earthquakes have been kind of normal but not a lot here. (It was) my first time in Texas with an earthquake,” Jason Christensen said.

“(This shop) was hanging with wreaths and the wreaths were shaking in a way like, ‘No, somebody just hit it. But it wasn’t like super crazy,'” said Bog Morris.

“I felt my table move and I was like, ‘Am I seeing this right?'” Do I feel that right? It only happened for a few seconds and I said, “Hmmm…could it be an earthquake?” No, I must be out of my mind, Elvira Garcia said.

The USGS also reported that there was some minor earthquake-induced damage in West Texas, but so far, ABC Big 2 News has not seen any reports of earthquake-related injuries.
