Medical societies, health agencies warn as RSV, flu and COVID cases rise
Southfield, Michigan (WXYZ) — Michigan’s largest network of physicians, the State Medical Association, along with Corewell Health (formerly Beaumont) and Hurley Medical Center, are providing Michigan residents with flu, RSV, and COVID-19 cases. The increase is urging us to take preventive measures.
Flu-related hospitalization rates for children and people of all ages are much higher nationwide than in previous seasons dating back to 2010.
In Michigan, flu-related hospitalizations are increasing week by week. Many people, especially children and the elderly, do not realize that they can become very ill with bacterial pneumonia during or after being sick with the flu.
Unfortunately, we expect the number of cases to continue to rise as we head into the holiday season.

As for influenza, there is a vaccine. Michigan’s goal is to administer four million doses of his flu vaccine.
