Florida officials have issued statements that contradict the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.

Dr. Edwin Michael is a professor of epidemiology at the University of South Florida.

He also said the future of the virus is uncertain.

“I think the CDC is being cautious, but they may be overly cautious because we don't know what the variants will do. We have no idea how contagious they will be, how severe they will cause symptoms,” Michael said.

Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo has publicly opposed the vaccine.
