Coronavirus: Kingspark School cluster rises to 22

Many young people in Kingspark have additional disabilities or medical problems
A total of 22 coronavirus cases, most of them adult adults, are currently associated with Dundee schools.
Kings Park School was closed last Wednesday as students and staff were required to quarantine themselves for 14 days.
NHS Tayside said in a Sunday update, 17 staff members, 2 students and 3 community contacts had a positive response.
Two other school sites in Dundee were also identified as a result of tracking contacts associated with the outbreak of Kingspark.
Two main classes at St. Peter and Paul’s School are required to self-isolate until September 2nd, after an individual has been tested positive.
Children attending the Happy Times off-campus club at Downfield Elementary School are required to quarantine themselves until the same date after a positive test result.
Elsewhere, two classes at High Blantyre Elementary School in South Lanarkshire are self-isolating after two students and one staff test positive.
NHS Lanarkshire said the school remained open, with no evidence of infection within the school.
The Kings Park School in Dundee, with approximately 185 students aged 5 to 18 who needed additional support, was closed on Wednesday evening to allow deep cleaning.
Due to the complex health of the students, we decided to close it for two weeks.
Protect the community
Individuals living with students who are unable to maintain physical distance are required to be self-isolated for 14 days.
Dr. Ellie Hothersall, a public health medical consultant at NHS Tayside, said: ..
“We’ve done everything we can to protect all communities from Covid-19, so we’ve issued guidance on self-isolation. This step will help stop the spread of the infection.
“I know this can cause anxiety in some parents and children, but we must do everything possible to keep people safe.”
Paul D. Clan, Executive Director of Children and Family Services at the Dundee City Council, said: “I want to reassure my family that this action is being taken to keep everyone safe.
“This is our number one concern and we cannot be satisfied.”
