Coronavirus: Product Found in Insecticide “May Kill Virus”, According to Research

Defense Minister Jeremy Quinn said:

“We share our preliminary findings today, so that others can carry on further investigations, review and expand their findings.

DSTL performed two experiments to show the effect of Citriodiol Coronavirus..

In the first experiment, scientists evaluated the antiviral activity of the Mosi Guard insect repellent when applied as a droplet directly to the virus.

The results revealed that Mosi Guard can protect against SARS-CoV-2 when mixed with virus.

The second experiment examined the effect of applying Mosi Guard to latex “synthetic skin”.

Again, the results showed that Mosi-Guard had antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2 in latex skin.

The reason for these effects remains unclear, but DSTL hopes that the results will encourage other scientists to investigate the protective effects of citriodiol.

Quinn added: “Defense plays a wide variety of roles in supporting efforts to tackle the coronavirus. We are pleased to say that this is another example of how defense can procure innovative ways to keep people safe.”
