Google tests picture-in-picture button in multimedia controls in Chrome
At the end of last year, Google officially announced the media playback controls for Chrome after being spotted in tests in Chrome Canary. Then the company didn’t Actually roll it out until January. Now Google is testing an Android-like fit for these controls: a new picture-in-picture button.

During our tests, the new functionality is online and activated in the latest version of Chrome Canary, without having to activate separate flags, and works as you would expect. In multimedia playback controls, a new picture-in-picture button appears to the right of the usual multimedia controls. Click on it and your video opens in an overlay in the corner. We don't know if the feature is available on all platforms, and it may not appear for all video sources, but it works in our tests with YouTube.

The picture in the picture is not himself new for Chrome or YouTube on computer. For the latter, a "mini-player" has been an official addition for the past two years, and Chrome supports image-in-picture since version 69 (via an awkward pop-up menu with a click difficult right of access on sites like Youtube). It’s more like official Chrome extension in the picture provided by Google – it even has the same icon, actually.
