US election: Joe Biden vows to unite country in victory speech – BBC News
Joe Biden said the US is “healing time” in its first speech as president-elect, and vowed to “not divide but unite” the country. “Let’s give each other a chance,” he said at a Delaware event aimed at those who didn’t vote for him. Mr. Biden defeated incumbent President Donald Trump after counting the votes on the cliff after Tuesday’s election. Trump has yet to accept and has not spoken publicly while playing golf since his failure was announced. The result makes Mr. Trump the first president in a term since the 1990s. His campaign has sparked numerous lawsuits in several states, but election officials said there was no evidence that the vote was against him, he claimed. Sudden celebrations erupted in major cities after the media announced Mr. Biden’s victory on Saturday.
