Nigerian boys return home after attempted kidnapping – BBC News

More than 300 refugees have been reunited with their families a week after they were abducted from a school in northwestern Nigeria. The boys arrived by bus in the state capital of Katsina. Journalists said they were tired and exhausted but otherwise well. Some still wore school uniforms, others tightened their gray blankets. The December 11 attack on the village of Kankara was claimed by the Islamist militant group Boko Haram. It is not yet clear who released all the trapped. Katsina Governor Aminu Bello Masari said on Thursday that 344 children had been handed over to security officials. “I think we can say … we’ve recovered most of the boys, if not all of them,” he told the Associated Press.
