Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi was seen as a symbol of human rights, and spent years detained at home for promoting democracy.
As a civilian leader in Myanmar, he is in the International Court of Justice for defending his country against genocide charges against a Rohingya Muslim minority. In fact, he will defend the people who were imprisoned earlier – the military.
