Bloomfield Hospital workers were suspended after urging Covid-deniers to comply with the rules
NHS frontline workers at Broomfield Hospital have been suspended for instructing Facebook’s covid-deniers to comply with government rules.
Gary Oldershaw, 53, from St. Osis, joined social media after seeing seven patients die after a 12-hour shift in the intensive care unit.
After seeing young and healthy people die of the virus, the 53-year-old wept at work for the first time in 30 years.
Frustrated Gary used Facebook to plead with covid-deniers to follow the guidelines.
However, after an anonymous complaint about the content of his post, the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, which oversees Broomfield Hospital, suspended Gary for “disapproving trust.”
Gary said he did not mention where he worked and only provided the government’s own advice, but admitted that he was able to avoid using such “colorful words.”
He said it left a “bitter taste” in his mouth.
Gary came out of semi-retirement to help with treatment Coronavirus The patient has now vowed never to return to the hospital where he worked for 17 years.
At the end of last year, an Essex hospital declared a “serious incident” after being overwhelmed by Covid-19 patients.
“All I wanted to do was help. No matter how difficult it was, I felt like I was doing a good job in the intensive care unit,” Gary said.
“This is not what NHS needs. We are in a pandemic and the hospital is overwhelmed. We need a lot of people to help.
“They didn’t have to take it so far. I think they could have talked to me and chatted, but instead I was just stopped.
“I was completely angry. I was completely deflated and went home. I couldn’t understand why I was suspended.”
A spokesman for the Mid-Essex and South Essex NHS Foundation Trusts said, “This is an ongoing investigation and the trust cannot comment.”
