City of Los Angeles Expands Vaccine Eligibility to Over 16 | Status
Los Angeles (AP) — The city of Los Angeles released the vaccine to young people a few days before the state expanded its eligibility to everyone over the age of 16.

“We are excited to start booking vaccinations for Angelenos 16+,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said in a statement. “We continue to receive a limited supply of vaccines, and with more supplies in the coming weeks, the city will be ready to administer more vaccines quickly and safely.”
The expansion of vaccine eligibility in Los Angeles follows similar moves by Riverside and San Bernardino counties in Southern California, Santa Clara county in the San Francisco Bay Area, and Fresno county in the Central Valley.
People over the age of 16 can be vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine, while the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are for people over the age of 18.
However, California public health officials warned Thursday that supply would decline as Johnson & Johnson’s one-shot vaccines were cut nationwide in the coming weeks.
The state received about 2.4 million doses last week, but is expected to receive 2 million doses this week and 1.9 million next week. This is in addition to vaccines shipped directly from the federal government to pharmacies and community health centers.
Currently, state-wide standards only cover people over the age of 50, people with underlying health conditions, and workers in certain specific important occupations.
Californians over the age of 16 can book from April 15th.
