breaking Bad

Even if you have lived under a rock for the past decade, it is unlikely that you have not heard of Breaking Bad. In a poll we did a few years ago, Vince Gilligans' masterpiece was voted the show most people lied about, its recognition as one of the best boxes of the modern era, so if you're one of those people, maybe it's time you did yourself a favor and watched the story unfold.

After the fortune of a chemistry professor, Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and decides to break away and embark on a life of crime as the linchpin of the drug crystal meth alongside one of her former students, Jessie Pinkman (Aaron Paul) to support her family after her death, it is one of the most fantastically written television dramas , directed and executed that you will have the chance to see.

Against the backdrop of a dusty Albuquerque universe of good, bad and ugly players whose stories twist, turn and evolve over five captivating series, it is a story that makes the viewer question everything until ;at the end.

Co-star Anna Gunn, Bob Odenkirk, Dean Norris and Giancarlo Esposito to name a few, Breaking Bad is as much about how his incredible cast of characters reacts to the changing world, as it is about Walt and Jessies, the incredible central journey.

Look at this. It is brilliant. Believe us

Criminal

The trend towards suffocating and intense police interrogation scenes that spin and spin and make the audience guess is a trend that we have seen developing more and more on television over the past decade, from Scandi Noir to our own Line of Duty, we want it is a recipe for a truly captivating police drama.

Enter Criminal, the Netflix international anthology series that takes place within the walls of a police interrogation room, and you immediately get another shot from the same stable.

Perhaps more ambitious and more conceptual than most of the shows that preceded it, the drama takes place in four countries, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain and consists of 12 individual stories ( three episodes per location). The episodes of each country are shot in its local language, written and directed by native stars with David Tennant and Hayley Atwell with in the cast of the British version, it is a show with an impressive cast as well as an intriguing and very trendy concept and one that you will not want to miss if you are a lover of this genre.

AMC

The spin-off is usually something that history remembers as a bad idea. For each Cheers that produces a Frasier, there are at least ten Friends who produce a Joey. So when it was announced that Vince Gilligan, the creative force behind the critically acclaimed Breaking Bad, was planning to spin-off, many alarm bells were heard around the world. television. The idea of ruining the legacy of one of the big boxes was disturbing, and it is with concern that many have turned to Better Call Saul.

Now, with the fifth season the last arrival on Netflix, it's hard to see how anyone could have seen this Breaking Bad prequel as anything other than solid gold success. After the shady relationships of Bob Odenkirks lawyer Saul Goodman, one of the central characters in the later parts of Breaking Bad's story, he brings viewers back to the same Albuquerque universe of the original series . It strikes a slightly lighter tone than Breaking Bad, but still has incredible stimulation and depth that made the original show so popular. With most of the original actors from Jonathan Banks to Giancarlo Esposito, anyone who has seen and enjoyed Breaking Bad should immediately set their Netflix box to Better Call Saul mode and start watching after the rush!

After life (Netflix)

Since The Office exploded on the scene at the turn of the millennium, completely changing the expectations of viewers of modern comedy, every project with which Ricky Gervais has been involved on the small screen (whether with his writing partner Office Stephen Merchant, or alone) have aroused enormous enthusiasm in the world of television comedy.

Considered by many to be some of Rickys' best televised work since Extras, After Life is, as you might expect, from Gervais a very awkward and sometimes disturbing comedy that explores the theme of mourning. Following the story of a man named Tony whose life is turned upside down after his wife's death from cancer, we see a man who, after considering suicide, decides to place to get his misery out of the rest of the world by saying and doing what he wants.

It's a lot funnier than it sounds, and there is a second season coming to Netflix in April.

Black mirror

Charlie Brooker reviewed TV for the Guardian not so long ago with a style that every young entertainment reporter desperately tried to emulate with varying degrees of success, but now he's a writer and a television showrunner who is equally influential in the creation of television content as it was when he reviewed it.

Black Mirror is undoubtedly his most compelling and celebrated work to date, a dystopian and often frightening view of how technology can change our lives, let's face it, largely for the worse.

It started as a filming of Channel 4 in the dark, but Charlie Brookers' drama quickly became one of the most poignant series on TV. Then Netflix stepped in and went from a cult show in the UK to a global phenomenon that draws huge guest stars from Jon Hamm and Bryce Dallas Howard to Andrew Scott and Miley Cyrus.

The fifth season presents some of his most ambitious and captivating tales to date, and of course Bandersnatch, the multiple choice adventure was a unique mega-hit from the Black Mirror brand.

Don't f ** k with cats: hunt a killer on the Internet

Netflix is producing a huge amount of real crime shows these days, with many of them becoming some of the most talked about streaming platforms. This show was one of the successes of the Christmas period 2019 despite its less than festive, happy or fun theme.

In 2010, a horrible online video of an anonymous man smothering two kittens went viral, after which an amateur detective gang led by Deanna Thompson, data analyst for one of the big casinos in Las Vegas, and John Green of LA have vowed to work together to find the author. It is the starting point of a documentary in three parts always surprising and disturbing. It's not possible to get around the fact that this show is rather strange, and at times incredibly surreal, but that's what makes this acclaimed comic drama of creative powers Leslye Headland, Natasha Lyonne and Amy Poehler so compelling and so popular.

The eight-part show follows Nadia, a New Yorker who smokes chains, as she makes her way through a mysterious time loop that sees her celebrate her 36th birthday and then die. Again and again. With Natasha Lyonne, Greta Lee, Yul Vazquez, Charlie Barnett and Elizabeth Ashley, it's not just a repeat of Groundhog Day, it's much more sophisticated than that. The right place

American network sitcoms have often received poor reviews from British critics, with a few notable exceptions, they are sometimes considered less sophisticated than British comedies with obvious jokes and characters. These are not charges that can be laid against NBC's high-level philosophical comedy, The Good Place, which not only makes you laugh, but makes you think.

From the pen of critically acclaimed Parks and Recreation co-creator Michael Schur, the show stars Kristen Bell as Eleanor Shellstrop, a woman who finds herself arriving in the Right Place after her death by fault. Shes joined in this afterlife a group of other newcomers played by William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil and Manny Jacinto who all live in a neighborhood created by the awkward architect, MIchael, brilliantly portrayed by Ted Danson.

A series of twists and turns throughout the first season foreshadows a massive upheaval in season two, which constantly leaves the audience wondering where the heck he can go next. Season three kind of repeats the feat with gusto and prepares the fabrics for the latest episode in history, available now.

Mindhunter

David Finchers' dark serial killer drama did not quite reach the water cooler when it arrived, but as with many on-demand shows, its slow construction plot drew enough people to have Netflix renew it for a second season.

The show follows soft-spoken FBI agent Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and gruff partner Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) as they tour the United States by interviewing serial killers most odious of the country.

While it takes a little time to really get started, the series quickly turns into an intriguing character study, as Ford becomes more and more emotionally entangled in his work.

The first two seasons starred Claire Foy and Matt Smith as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies occupying the same key roles for seasons three and four.

I have spent 16 years of my life on this story, from Lestradetells Radio Times. And while it's not full-time filming and editing over the years, there really hasn't been a day that it never occurred to me.

Sex education

One of the biggest questions around this lively comedy is where and when does it take place? Although the characters are British, they all have different accents and the school they attend is more like a 1980s high school in the United States than the kind of full curriculum that most Britons would have attended . Everyone seems to be driving old Volvo cars, but people have smartphones

The reality is that the ambiguity of time and place is a deliberate decision by Laurie Nunn and the show producers to pay tribute to a teenage John Hughe-style world that a generation grew up watching on television. .

The show follows the fortunes of Otis (Asa Butterfield), Maeve (Emma Mackey), Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) as they navigate their school days, their parents and the challenges that accompany them . Also starring Gillian Anderson as the mother of sex therapist Otiss, this show is critically acclaimed not only for her comedy, but also for the daring manner in which she challenges important issues head-on.
