According to a grim survey by the Institute of Directors, one in four companies say they will not be able to top up the wages of workers on leave when invited by the chancellor in August.

In other words, a quarter of the eight million Britons on leave could be in danger of losing their jobs before the end of the summer.
That is why the government must not waste an instant in restarting this country.
We were delighted that the non-essential stores open on June 15, this will serve as a welcome sign that the nation is ready for business.
And it’s great to hear Boris making positive noises about pubs, the beating heart of Britain.
But what about other businesses and schools?
The government cannot guarantee to keep the entire population free from disease. This would have been impossible even before the pandemic started.
But the number of Covid-19 cases is now dropping dramatically. And the general British public has become an expert in respecting the rules of social distancing.
The time has certainly come to get this country back on its feet.

The argument for Britain’s exit from the EU by the end of this year has never been stronger.
We know that sorting out all the details in six months will be a challenge.

But that cannot go beyond the best brains in the country. And the alternative is to extend the transition period, stay and watch the British companies taxed in paradise by the Eurocrats on a mission to bail out half the continent.
Our huge coronavirus package will cost us dearly over the next few years. If the Treasury forecasts prove to be correct, almost all British people will feel the pinch.
We will have neither the money nor the desire to finance our European neighbors.
