Alfredo Montufar-Helu, director of the Conference Board's China Center for Economics and Business, said the two countries would continue diplomatic relations regardless of the repercussions.

Despite this, Montufar-Helu does not believe their alliance will end anytime soon, even in the face of tougher economic sanctions imposed on both countries.

He told the Daily Express US: “I don't think we will see a deterioration in Sino-Russian relations.
“Even though the Kremlin may not be happy with what is happening, the fact is that China remains its main political and trading partner despite pressure from the West.”
Economic ties between Beijing and Moscow have strengthened significantly in recent years, with cross-border trade and investment playing a central role in strengthening their relationship.
Montufar-Helu also suggested that beyond economic interests, the Chinese government values its partnership with Russia for strategic reasons.
