PTI founder says talks are held with opponents, while agreement is reached with whoever wants to leave the country

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has said that he has been saying for 18 months that he is ready to hold negotiations but not to conclude a deal.

Speaking to reporters at Adiala Prison, Khan said negotiations had always been a part of politics, but they were with opponents and not friends. He reiterated that his party would talk to everyone except the three parties.

“Someone who wants to leave the country or avoid imprisonment makes a deal,” he said.

He nominated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Omar Ayub and Leader of Opposition in Senate Shibli Faraz to hold the talks.

Khan also informed the media that “they” were going to file the fourth complaint against him regarding the Toshakhana gifts. They should present whatever arguments they want at the same time, he added.

A day ago, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had claimed that his party was not engaging with anyone and had no special message for the talks.

Lawyer Gohar, speaking to reporters outside Rawalpindis Adiala Prison, said the former prime minister was facing “politically motivated” cases. He added that the PTI founder had asked the judiciary to deliver judgments on his cases at the earliest.

Ali Amin Gandapur, Omar Ayub Khan and Shibli Faraz were given the green light to hold negotiations, but not to reach an agreement, Gohar said, adding that they had to talk to anyone except three political parties.
