Turkish Ambassador highlights strong bilateral trade relations with Germany
Turkish Ambassador to Germany Ahmet Basar Sen highlighted the significant achievements in bilateral trade relations between Turkey and Germany at the 8th Turkish-German Economy Day in Düsseldorf, organized by the Association of Turkish entrepreneurs and industrialists in Europe (ATIAD).
Sen expressed pride in the economic dynamism facilitated by Turkish communities in Germany since the 1960s, highlighting the contributions of Turkish businesses and individuals in various sectors in Europe and Germany.
He highlighted recent high-level visits between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, which aimed to strengthen political and economic ties between the two countries.
Sen reaffirmed Turkey's commitment to achieving the $60 billion target for bilateral trade as requested by President Erdogan, noting that the trade volume had already exceeded $50 billion by the end of 2023.
Highlighting the economic importance of North Rhine-Westphalia, Sen highlighted the region's status as a hub of Turkish-German cooperation, with a significant volume of foreign trade and significant Turkish investments.
Sen also discussed the potential benefits of updating the EU-Turkey customs union and visa liberalization for Turkish citizens, as well as Turkey's full membership in the European Union and its participation in the single market, which would create growth opportunities for German and Turkish entrepreneurs.
