Nepalese Prime Minister Oli to begin his first official visit to China on December 2 | News from India

Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Beijing from December 2-5, his first visit to a neighboring country during this term.

Oli will break with usual practice of Nepalese prime ministers have made India their first destination in the neighborhood after taking office, with the exception of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”, who visited China before India in 2008.

Oli will also meet Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, Zhao Leji.

After assuming the post of prime minister for the fourth time in July this year, Oli chose to travel to China for his first foreign visit, breaking with the tradition of visiting India as his first destination.

Oli is expected to speak at the Nepal-China Business Forum, jointly organized by the Nepalese Embassy in Beijing, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Federation of Nepali Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

According to the ministry, the delegation led by Prime Minister Oli will include Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Principal Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Rimal and Economic and Development Advisor to the Prime Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada, among others.

Deuba left for China on Thursday to prepare the ground for Oli's visit. Oli, who will be accompanied by his wife Radhika Shakya, will return on December 5 to conclude his four-day visit.
