Salman Akram Raja collides with Adiala prison staff after the refusal of Imran Khan's meeting

Salman Akram Raja, the lawyer representing the president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, faced the staff of Adiala prison on Monday after being refused to meet his client.

The incident occurred when Raja tried to meet Khan, who is currently imprisoned in the establishment, Express News reported.

According to Raja, the prison staff initially refused their request without providing a clear reason, leading to a confrontation.

Azam Khan Swati, Nadia Khattak, Tabish Farooq, Mubashhir Awan and Ansar Kiyani were allowed to meet Imran. However, Salman Akram Raja, Shoaib Shaheen and Niazullah Niazi were prevented from entering, encouraging Raja to question the decision.

He expressed his dissatisfaction with the selective approval of visitors with prison staff at door 5.

Raja asked why some names on their list were refused while others were authorized, declaring: “We have provided a list with names, but only Azam Swati was granted. Why were the others not authorized?”

The jailer would have replied by explaining that the staff first dealt with these names and would address the remaining requests thereafter.

Raja argued that this was not in accordance with the instructions of the Court, who had specified that certain lawyers, including himself, were to be granted.

The confrontation continued as Raja insisted that if his team was not allowed to meet Khan, none of the visitors should be granted. Raja stressed the importance of joining the ordinances of the court, warning that the fact of not making him upset Khan.

The prison administration later confirmed that the meetings with Khan had been limited for security reasons but had not drawn up any specific conditions.
