The Flip Wilson Show was one of the many variety shows available in the 1970s (with Sonny and Cher, Captain and Tennille, Donny and Marie, etc.). Hosted by the black comic book Flip Wilson, this show featured sketches, music and frequent appearances of "Geraldine Jones" (really Flip Wilson in drag).
Geraldine has always been in trouble and done many things that she was unable to do, but she has always had an answer for her misdeeds. "The devil made me do this," was always his answer.
I said all of this because I am aware of all the political jokes blamed back and forth. A candidate is caught in a supposed lie and the answer is: "It is the fault of the Russians, Vladimir Putin is trying to influence the elections".
This kind of nonsense continues day after day. At least Flip Wilson and his character Geraldine made us laugh week after week.
But this political blame that calls day after day begins to age and begins to get nauseous.
Our country is collapsing, people are in poverty, the Corona virus is ramparting, Americans are terrorized and murdered at an alarming rate and all we can find is a game on an old Flip Wilson line ; "The devil forced me to do it. God help us because it seems that none of the presidential candidates can.
Sorry for the brevity of this week's article, but this is my 15th presidential election and it is by far the most muddy slingshot I have seen in over 56 years of presidential elections. I just wish that the candidates grow and stop their personal interest and remember that they are servants of the people, not our masters. This presidential election could be the most important election ever known by the Americans. Many people think that socialism is the answer to our problems but just look at Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Russia and others. Nothing is free! So-called Democratic Socialists plan to tax middle-class workers at a 40% tax rate to pay for free health care and free education.
P.S. Don't forget to vote this November 3. But please vote; otherwise, you have no reason to complain about the result.
