Baseball is ranked fourth in the final NCAA Central Region Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS The NSIC champion Augustana baseball team is ranked fourth in the final official NCAA Division II Central Region Rankings. The Vikings are one of two NSIC teams in the top-10 rankings.
Augustana is ranked with a 40-8 record against DII opponents, all games against area opponents. Augustana won the NSIC Tournament game in the opening round earlier this afternoon and will face Wayne State in the winner's round on Thursday afternoon, with first pitch at 3:30 p.m.
The 39-team NCAA Central Region consists of teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC). Automatic bids are awarded to each conference's tournament champions, with the final five spots awarded on an at-large basis.
The Championship Preliminary Round competition includes 16 regional venues consisting of 4-team double-elimination tournaments. The winners of these regional round competitions advance to a super regional round which consists of two teams competing in a best-of-three series.
The NCAA DII Baseball Selection Show will stream on NCAA.com on Sunday, May 14 at 9:00 PM central time.
